Seguin is Headed to the TCL CHAMPIONSHIP


The Seguin River Monsters defeated the Victoria Generals 6-2 in a thrilling deciding playoff game on Thursday night and will be heading to the Texas Collegiate League Championship Game on Saturday in Bryan, Texas against the Brazos Valley Bombers.


Seguin had five runs in the first two innings and never looked back. Adrian Torres and Connor Kaiser both had RBI doubles. Seguin had 10 hits collectively and put up a total of 6 runs.


Thomas Kuykendall, from UTA, earned the win, pitching five and a third innings and allowing two runs, three hits and four strikeouts.


UTSA freshman Ruger Riojas got the save, notching six strikeouts in the final three and two-thirds innings. Ruger's performance was impeccable, having entered the game with a bases loaded situation and only 1 out, he struck out 2 batters immediately in only 7 pitches, topping 90 MPH.


The Seguin River Monsters are led by Coach Tony Perez and Assistant Coaches Nick Palacios and Kaleb LeClaire.
